The 25 year old England man is out of contract next summer and as such Villa Park boss Paul Lambert may be open to offers for Delph in January though one wonders if the chance to bring in Holtby would interest the Scot.

Holtby is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Hamburg and has started nine of their opening dozen Bundesliga fixtures and may hanker for a permanent move back to Germany.

If Aston Villa were to elect to cash-in on Delph then they may prefer a straight cash offer that would then allow Lambert to use the relevant funds to adequately replace the contract rebel.

Holtby moved to Spurs in January 2013 and has struggled to make a consistent impact at the club.
