The north London side will apparently pick up the FC Basel centre-back in a £9.5m deal in January as Arsene Wenger urgently seeks to strengthen his defence.
The 22 year old Swiss international is considered a hot prospect and could ably replace Thomas Vermaelen, who joined Barcelona in the summer, and would offer support for first choice centre-back pairing Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.
Schar helped his side to back to back Swiss titles in the past two campaigns and though his arrival could not be considered a groundbreaking transfer it may be one that gets the club’s push for a top four finish back on track.
