The north London side are ready to offer £36.6m for the Real Madrid man, who is by no means a first team regular, and could perhaps be a bid that Bernabeu president Florentino Perez considers given the high level of spending the La Liga side have undertaken in recent transfer windows.

The 22 year old has impressed when called upon this term, especially when taking Gareth Bale’s spot during the Welshman’s injury lay-off, but the former Malaga man has started just six of Real Madrid’s dozen La Liga fixtures this term.

Whilst it’s true that Wenger could do with investing in his Gunners squad one would have to question the wisdom in spending big on a playmaker given the number of similar quality players the Arsenal manager has in his armoury.

Wenger would do well to invest these funds in the purchasing of a new centre-back or a defensive midfielder instead.

There is no denying Isco’s quality though and his return of 12 goals and 13 assists in 44 starts for Real Madrid suggests he should perhaps be offered more of a chance at the Spanish giants.
