Brendan Rodgers spent heavily on new signings this summer to make up for the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, which also handed the Reds boss plenty of cash to spend in the transfer market.

In an attempt to almost rebuild his entire squad, Rodgers signed several expensive flops that now look to be big mistakes after the club endures a nightmare start to the season.

Liverpool were disappointing again as they could only manage a point against the Bulgarian minnows, being pegged back late on despite taking a 2-1 lead.

All the while, the players dropped to the bench cost a whopping £88m combined, with these seven players failing to start the game this midweek:

1) Dejan Lovren (£20m)

Impressive for Southampton last season, Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren has been a massive disappointment since his £20m move to Anfield, looking unconfident and suspect at the back as the Reds have leaked goals all season long, and he was dropped to the bench for this big game.
