Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to watch Dutch defender Ricardo van Rhijn, according to the Daily Mirror.

Spurs watched the 23 year old in Ajax’s 3-1 Champions League loss to Paris Saint Germain earlier this week.

It is thought the young Dutchman is available for as little as £5 million, but Spurs would face competition for his signature from Napoli and Villarreal.

The right back boasts an impressive two goals from defence for Ajax in the league this season and is an established name in the Amsterdam club’s first team squad. Despite his age he’s already amassed 86 appearances.

Kyle Walker is Spurs’ first choice right back but with the England international currently out injured for several more weeks at least, Argentinian boss Mauricio Pochettino has had to rely on Eric Dier and Vlad Chiriches to fill in at the back.

Spurs have reportedly already captured the signature of USA international DeAndre Yedlin who could be available from January, but van Rhijn would provide some much needed cover at the back.
