The Brazilian has been linked with a potential move to the west London club but appears keen to remain at Zenit St Petersburg after negotiating a tricky start at the Russian Premier League side to become a key performer for the table topping side.

Hulk’s honest assessment of a move to either Chelsea or Real Madrid could be conceded as realistic or defeatist depending on your point of view.

He told Globoesporte: “Of course I know that some clubs command more attention than others, but the important thing is I’m happy.

“There’s no use going to Real Madrid or Chelsea and then lacking opportunities to play.

“Whether it is a big club or not, I know there are clubs that will always have their eyes on me.”

Hulk cost Zenit £39.5m in September 2012 and has since netted a healthy total of 43 goals in 83 appearances for the Russian side.
