Liverpool Desperate To Complete Move For Manchester United Target

Brendan Rodgers’ goalkeeper problems grow worse with every passing game…

Simon Mignolet’s terrible form has left Liverpool with no option other than to act decisively and bring in a new goalkeeper as soon as possible.

The Reds have now turned their attention to Sergio Romero, who plays for Sampdoria in Serie A.

The Argentine international was linked with Manchester United in the summer, and even apparently had a medical at Old Trafford before a deadline day move fell through.

Now it is United’s rivals Liverpool who look favourite’s to seal a deal for the keeper, according to reports in the Express.

Brendan Rodgers has consistently backed himself to get the best out of Simon Mignolet, but the Belgian keeper continues to dig himself into a hole.

His latest gaffe came in the 2-2 draw with Ludogorets in midweek, when the keeper spilled a simple shot within the first few minutes, allowing a Ludogorets striker to nip in and fire the loose ball home.

Rodgers now realises that the keeper is costing his side too many points on a game to game basis to be considered a long term project, and he must sign a replacement in January.

While Romero is top of that list there are still plenty of games to play before the January window opens. In the meantime, Simon Mignolet could suffer the indignity of being dropped for Brad Jones.
