Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is already missing ten first-team players through injury…

Arsenal’s injury problems continued to mount on Saturday, as Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Nacho Monreal joined an already lengthy list of sidelined players, taking the shine off their 1-0 win over West Brom.

Reports in the Daily Mail confirmed that the Gunners were already without eight players – including Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Wojciech Szczesny, Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Debuchy.

Gibbs (ankle), Oxlade-Chamberlain and Monreal (both knee) all picked up knocks at the Hawthorns, and the trio will be assessed by the club’s medical team in the next 24 hours before a decision is made on their availability for Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Southampton.

The fitness of left-backs Gibbs and Monreal will be the biggest worry for manager Arsene Wenger going into the clash against the high-flying Saints, and he may have to turn back to his youth team to find a suitable substitute.

“Gibbs and Monreal are both struggling a little bit – and Chamberlain as well,” confirmed Wenger. “We have to see how they recover on Monday, they have knocks – but how bad it is we don’t know.”
