The 27 year old Britannia Stadium star is rightly considered one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and it would appear that Anfield boss Rodgers is running out of patience with under-fire custodian Simon Mignolet.

The Belgian has struggled for form during his 18 months on Merseyside and his shocking display in Sofia saw Liverpool drop two crucial Champions League points against Ludogorets.

Begovic moved to Portsmouth in 2003 and impressed at Fratton Park ahead of his 2010 move to Stoke City and has made 150 appearances for the Potters and may well be tempted by a high-profile move to Liverpool.

Rodgers has also earmarked a move for Chelsea star Petr Cech and Fiorentina’s Neto with Mignolet seemingly living on borrowed time.
