Pellegrini was managing River Plate when Aguero first broke onto the scene in Argentina. The 61-year-old soon made the switch to Villareal, and was desperate to bring Aguero to La Liga with him.

Atletico Madrid beat him to the punch however, smashing their club transfer record when they bought the striker for £20m.

He is now one of the top forwards in football, with the 26-year-old easily capable of walking into any team in the world.

The Argentine has been vital to City this season, and looks to have saved some blushes after his hat-trick in the Champions League saw them beat Bayern Munich to keep their qualification hopes alive.

He is a highly coveted player, but his Chilean manager has no intentions of letting him go.

“Sergio is very happy here and has five years more on his contract. I don’t think he will move but you never know what happens in the future,” he said

“At this moment Sergio doesn’t want to go and we don’t want to sell him.”
