The 51-year-old revealed the rejection on his Radio 5 Live show. He was applying to be a stormtrooper in the new film that will be released in 2015. His height was apparently the main issue.

“I wanted to be a stormtrooper in Star Wars but you have to be 5 foot 11 inches and I was too short. Two of my friends got to do it,” the ex-Crystal Palace man told his listeners.

Apparently this was enough to keep him from the role in the film, despite being one of the Gunners best players in the 1990s.

The part time pundit is five foot nine inches, so came under the height needed for the role as on of the soldiers in the movie. The film is called ‘The Force Awakens’ and will be out some time next year. Unfortunately for Wright, he won’t see himself on the big screen when he goes to the cinema to watch it.
