The striker picked up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday’s draw with Sunderland, and will be unavailable for their match against Tottenham on Wednesday. However, both Didier Drogba and Loic Remy are fit and able to take his place.

The 26-year-old has scored eleven goals in eleven games this season, and has been a key part of the Stamford Bridge outfit’s rise to the top of the Premier League. They will have to do without him in their next match though.

“I’m not scared,” he told reporters. “Of course we need to have everybody available but in Didier Drogba and Loic Remy, we have good strikers.”

He also believes that they will have to face many more sides who will attempt to defend in the same manner as Gus Poyet’s men did in the most recent game.

“Now every team is going to try to defend like that against us,” he added. “We know that and we’re ready for that. But we will find the space to score.”

After Jose Mourinho’s side drew 0-0 with the Black Cats on the weekend, Matic thinks that they must not go without scoring when they play Spurs mid-week. The London team’s lead at the top of the Premier League was cut to six points after they drew and rivals Manchester City beat Southampton.

“We are not happy with one point but it is better than to go home with zero. If you don’t score, you cannot win but [against Tottenham] we cannot let this happen again, we have to score,” the Serbian told the press.
