Real Madrid are keen to replace Iker Casillas with United’s promising young keeper David de Gea, and it seems Louis van Gaal has identified Lloris as his ideal successor.

24-year-old de Gea’s fantastic form this season sees him valued at around £30m, and if United can get Lloris for significantly less than that then it could prove to be a fantastic bit of business.

The former Lyon keeper moved to North London in June 2012, and has been a shining light in a fairly poor Spurs side.

With Lloris signing  a five-year contract extension last July, he is likely to cost in the region of £25m. But having seen Tottenham repeatedly fail to live up to expectations and consistently miss out on Champions League football, Lloris may be looking for a new challenge.
