At 33-years-old Terry is only offered one year at a time by the Blues and his impressive performances for the team this season means he could well be staying for at least a little longer.

Whilst Mourinho has been typically cagey to the media about the future of his skipper at the club, the comments from the Portuguese coach suggests he wants the defender to stay.

“It’s not time to speak about it, but he knows what I think and what I feel. I don’t need to talk about it with you,” the 51-year-old was quoted by the Sun.

After falling out of favour under interim manager Rafael Benitez, Terry has established himself once more in the starting XI since Mourinho returned to West London in 2013.

The centre-back has been at the heart of any success the club has enjoyed since then and has also been credited with helping the development of defensive partner Gary Cahill.

Terry is considered to be one of the greatest players the club has ever produced, breaking into the first team from the academy back in 1998 and playing 607 times for the West Londoners in all competitions since then.
