Man United Will Sell Juan Mata To Fund Kevin Strootman Move

Reports are linking Juan Mata with an exit from Old Trafford…

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Sevilla are interested in Man United’s Juan Mata, and that the English club could sell in order to make room for Kevin Strootman in January.

Mata only arrived at Old Trafford 11 months ago in a £37.5m deal from Chelsea, but the Spaniard has never quite been at home at United.

Last season the struggles under David Moyes made things difficult for everyone at the club, and summer arrivals of Falcao and Angel Di Maria have made the former Valencia man even more peripheral.

It now seems the 26-year-old will now be given an opportunity to make a fresh start in Spain, with Sevilla apparently at the head of the queue for the Man United man. There’s no way the Spanish side will be able to pay as much as the Red Devils did for Mata, so if they are to sell in January, United have clearly come to terms with making a loss on the Spain international.

The Mirror speculates than Louis Van Gaal will sanction the deal in order to free up funds for a January move for Kevin Strootman. The Dutchman has only just returned for Roma following a long term cruciate injury, but Van Gaal knows the Roma player from his time as coach of the Netherlands, and is keen to bring him in.
