Former midfielder claims Blues won’t stay unbeaten forever.

Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson has said that he doesn’t believe the current Chelsea side may look unbeatable at the moment, but insists that they won’t stay that way, he writes in the Daily Star.

Arsenal went undefeated to the title a decade ago, and Jose Mourinho’s men look as though they could do the same again this year.

But Merson, who established himself at Arsenal, doesn’t believe that Chelsea will be able to match his old side when it comes to staying defeat free for an entire campaign.

“Jose Mourinho has used mostly the same players so far this season. Go beyond them and the quality drops off,” he said.

“Look at the back four. You couldn’t drop any of them right now.

“There is no John Terry or Gary Cahill on the bench for Chelsea, whereas that Arsenal team had Martin Keown to come in if Sol Campbell or Kolo Toure were out. Look at the forward line as well.

“Arsenal had Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp, two of the greatest forwards in Premier League history. They also had Kanu.

“If Costa is out for 10 games, they are going to lose a few.”
