The former Manchester City man was hit with an FA charge over an allegedly racist and anti-Semitic post he put up on Instagram, but this is just the latest blow in what has been a disappointing season for the Italian.

There were already rumours emerging that the striker would be offloaded in January, with Liverpool ready to put his transfer down as a failed gamble and cut their losses.

It seems now that the club are planning to stick by him however, with the controversial forward sticking around at least until the end of the season.

Balotelli is facing a three match ban for his Instagram post, but is going to fight the decision as he insists his post was meant to be anti-racist rather than promoting it.
