The 25 year old German international has a very affordable £19.6m release clause that both Man City and Arsenal are ready to trigger but Jose Mourinho may feel confident he can win the race.

Mourinho sees Edin Hazard and Oscar are two portions of a front three who operate behind Diego Costa and currently sees Willian (challenged by Ramires and Andre Schurrle) as the third member of that group.

The Blues boss may well feel Reus would be a far more effective option to those available to him and given how poorly Jurgen Klopp’s side are faring at present a move to the Premier League may be deemed as very tempting by the former Borussia Monchengladbach man.

Reus moved to the Westfalenstadion in the summer of 2012 but then saw Dortmund surrender their Bundesliga title to a Bayern Munich side who’s dominance has been aided by the departure of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski to the Allianz Arena giants.

This season Dortmund sit near the foot of the Bundesliga table and one imagines Reus must be reaching the end of his tether.
