Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle each other for the signings of two top class strikers in the January transfer window.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur appear to have located the same solutions to their frustrating lack of goals this season, with the Mail reporting that Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers’ men are set to fight it out over two strikers worth a cool £55 million once the January transfer window opens on New Year’s Day.

The likes of Mario Balotelli and Roberto Soldado have not hit the form expected of them this season, meaning that both Liverpool and Spurs have been forced to scour the market in search of January attacking solutions, with these two attacking stars that they have come up with:

Jackson Martinez (FC Porto – £30 million)

A player whose prolific goalscoring record in Portugal has long attracted admiring glances from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez looks set to be moving on in the near future with his side willing to consider offers of around £30m for the Colombian international. This would be a huge transfer outlay for either club, but there would be a feeling that Martinez’s record means that he can step in and provide goals for whichever side he joins.
