Will either Liverpool or Tottenham win the battle to sign West Brom starlet Saido Berahino…

He might not have scored since October, but Saido Berahino’s stock continues to rise, as Liverpool and Tottenham prepare to battle it out for the young striker in the January transfer window.

Reports in the Metro claim that the Baggies are reluctant to sell their star player, and will demand a staggering £25m from any interested party. The England Under-21 international has scored seven Premier League goals this season.

Liverpool are desperate to improve their striking options next month as they battle to qualify for the Champions League again after a difficult start to the season, while Tottenham have also had a mixed campaign thus far, under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Both teams have struggled for goals. Liverpool, without last season’s top scorers Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, have been left with Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini, who have scored just one Premier League goal between them.

Tottenham have faired little better, with Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane all failing to find the net consistently in domestic matches, although the latter has impressed in the Europa League.
