Two of the more dominant teams in the NFL meet on Sunday with the Seattle Seahawks heading to Lincoln Financial Field to face the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles (9-3) share the best record in the league after their comfortable Thanksgiving win over their divisional rivals the Dallas Cowboys, while the Seahawks (8-4) produced a similar result against the San Francisco 49ers.
As a result, both teams are in a good place in their respective divisions looking ahead to the playoffs, but there is a lot riding on this encounter between former Pac-12 coaching foes Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly.
Seattle’s daunting defense continues to recover injured bodies and becomes more formidable by the week with Bobby Wagner and Kam Chancellor recently returning. Richard Sherman was in fine form with two interceptions against the Niners and as a result the Seahawks are allowing a league-low 285.8 yards per game.
However, they will arguably face their toughest test yet against the fast-paced Eagles, who rank fourth in total yards with 416.2 per game along with 31.2 points per game.
Carroll has insisted that they are not phased by facing the high-tempo offense from Philadelphia, but it remains to be seen whether or not he feels the same way once the game kicks off and the defensive unit is put under pressure.
Nevertheless, history suggests that Seattle enjoy playing in Philadelphia after winning all three of their visits over the past 25 years, the most recent of which came back in 2011 in a 31-14 win.
Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson will be expected to lead the charge this time round, while Mark Sanchez will hope to navigate his way past the infamous “Legion of Boom”.
