Inter director Piero Ausilio was in the stands during Liverpool’s recent away win at Leicester City and is thought to have been taking a closer look at a number of apparent targets.

Full-back Glen Johnson, midfielder Lucas Leiva and bit-part attacker Fabio Borini are all strongly linked with a move to join the ailing Italian giants and there is every chance that Brendan Rodgers would seek to cash in on the trio given that they do not play a crucial role in his first team plans.

England man Johnson is out of contract next summer so an offer could be accepted in January and Liverpool battler Lucas has been linked with a move to Napoli in the past and is no longer a regular at the Merseyside outfit.

Borini is thought to be keen on a return to his native Italy and one imagines moves for the trio wouldn’t require massive fees and would provide Mancini will further strength in depth for his side, who currently sit in the bottom half of the Serie A table.
