Liverpool Dealt Blow As Chelsea Star Looks Set To Stay Put In January

Jose Mourinho isn’t keen on losing Petr Cech.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is desperate to keep back up goalkeeper Petr Cech at the club once the transfer window reopens in three weeks’ time, report the Express, news that will deal a real blow to both Liverpool and Arsenal as they seek to bring in experienced replacements for their underperforming young goalkeepers.

Cech represented the obvious option for both clubs on account his failure to secure first team football ahead of the superb Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge so far this season, despite the Czech Republic international still being one of the world’s finest goalkeepers in his own right.

It is likely that Cech will be keen on securing a move for first team football as soon as possible as he enters the twilight years of his career, with the report suggesting that both Arsenal and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on his situation, but Mourinho is not keen to lose any senior players in January.

Cech had been undisputed number one at Stamford Bridge for a decade after replacing Carlo Cudicini between the Stamford Bridge sticks, but the return of Belgian international Courtois from three years on loan at Atletico Madrid has seen the experienced stopper relegated to warming the bench.
