The Belgian has been in poor form this season, and has been tipped to be replaced in the upcoming January transfer window. However, two clean sheets in his last three games could be a sign of the 26-year-old turning things around.

Speaking to reporters the stopper said, “You always prefer to win games, that is what matters more than anything. You concede one goal but you have to get the points. Personally I would be happy conceding a goal and the team winning. That is how it is.”

He added, “Why? I am footballer player and I like to win. Of course I want the clean sheet because that will make it easier and mean we only have to score one goal. But winning is the most important thing.”

With a must win match against Basel coming up in the Champions League, Mignolet has said that he doesn’t mind conceding as long as his team score down the other end. This admission of a blase attitude towards goals might not go down too well among Reds fans who are looking for their back line to improve after a shaky start to the campaign.
