The 24 year old only joined the Hammers over the summer and has proven an instant hit, netting seven goals in seven Premier League starts, and cost Sam Allardyce’s side just £4.4m.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is also keeping tabs on West Brom forward Saido Berahino but the youngster’s reported £25m price-tag may well be the reasoning for a change in direction towards the Senegal international.

Rodgers has seen summer signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli struggle for form whilst Fabio Borini continues to play a bit-part role, all this whilst first choice starter Daniel Sturridge continues to be sidelined.

The quartet of strikers in Liverpool’s squad have managed just three Premier League goals between them so one can well see why Rodgers would be frantically looking at alternative options in January.

Sakho may be keen on a potential high-profile move to Liverpool but Allardyce would presumably fight tooth and nail to keep the former Metz man.
