The Merseyside club find themselves back in the Champions League this season after missing out for the last few years.

With one game to play in the group stages, they have won just a single game and find themselves on four points and in a precarious position.

Rodgers’ side will host FC Basel at Anfield on Tuesday night, with nothing short of a win seeing them through to the knockout stages.

“We will get great support and there will be energy,” the manager said.

“For us, we could not have wanted any more than to go to Anfield on Tuesday night needing to win the game to get qualified. It’s perfect.”

The Reds have had a disastrous season in the Premier League so far, so Rodgers will be hoping for a successful run in the Champions League to boost confidence.

Liverpool will certainly be expected to beat Basel tomorrow night, but with their recent form being somewhat erratic, anything could happen.
