The LA Galaxy secured a dramatic extra time win over the New England Revolution with Robbie Keane netting the all important goal to help retiring legend Landon Donovan to secure an MLS Cup triumph in the final game of his glorious Stateside career.

The win at the StubHub Center was the LA Galaxy’s third domestic crown in four seasons and brings to an end a hugely successful MLS season which has seen interest in the game, as well as stadium attendances, reach new heights.

The Galaxy had been in complete control after a one-sided first half before Bruce Arena’s side finally took the lead early into the second half through Gyasi Zardes but surprisingly the New England Revolution leveled late on through Chris Tierney which send the game into extra-time.

Irish veteran Keane then struck the winner in the second period of extra-time to give his side the victory and meant that Landon Donovan broughth the curtain down on his trailblazing career with an MLS Cup triumph, the fourth of his career.
