Magpies boss Alan Pardew has seen Tim Krul and his understudy Rob Elliot both ruled out with injuries and was forced to hand Jak Alnwick his club debut during his side’s win over Chelsea on the weekend.

Pardew will make a request for an emergency loan though will also then have to hope Jose Mourinho is amenable to such a deal which one imagines Aussie custodian Schwarzer would be open to.

42 year old Schwarzer moved to Chelsea in July 2013 and has made 11 starts for the Blues, the last of which coming in May.

Prior to his move to Chelsea the experienced keeper had spent five years at Fulham and has amassed over 600 appearances since moving to England back in 1996.
