Icardi has also been linked with a switch to La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, but he has insisted that he is not interested in a move to Spain and would rather play in England instead.

And it is thought that Jose Mourinho could grant Icardi his wish in January, with suggestions that the 21-year-old is a young talent who can offer something different to those already in the Chelsea squad.

Inter are said to be reluctant to sell the in form striker, but know that they may have to cash in on him in order to fund moves for PSG star Ezequiel Lavezzi and Tottenham’s Erik Lamela.
