Hammers defender Reid, a key figure in their remarkable start to the campaign, wants £60,000 a week and a £1million signing-on fee.

But as he closes in on the end of his deal in the summer, Sam Allardyce will look to take advantage of the remaining interest in his services as they are priced out of keeping their own player.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are still highly interested in snapping the 26-year-old up, and will hope to land him on the cheap during the transfer window.

Arsenal have already declared an interest in Ipswich youngster Tyrone Mings, but are also aware that they need a more experienced head at the back as well.
