Old Trafford side linked with move for AS Monaco star.
AS Monaco midfielder Joao Moutinho is apparently seeking a Stade Louis II exit and Man United are one of a trio of Premier League sides keeping a close watch on the Portuguese international according to the Daily Mirror.
The 28 year old has seen top quality team-mates Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez depart and is now keen to follow suit and Louis van Gaal will find himself battling Chelsea and Arsenal for the former FC Porto star’s signature.
AS Monaco successfully edged into the knockout phase of the Champions League so a move for the cultured midfielder may prove more likely next summer but Moutinho is sure to have no shortage of suitors.
Gaal appears keen on bringing midfield reinforcements and has a long standing interest in AS Roma’s Kevin Strootman and a move for the Dutchman could finally come to fruition in January.
The Old Trafford boss is looking to beef up his options in the centre of the park regardless of the fact that he signed Ander Herrera and Daley Blind in the summer and despite the return to form of both Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick.
