The Brazil international has been an instant hit in Ligue 1 and after falling out-of-favour under Blues manager Jose Mourinho the defender has admitted he is pleased to no longer be at Stamford Bridge.

“I made a good choice coming here. I am happy to play in this team. Of course I smile a lot. I am a happy boy,” Luiz was quoted by the Mirror.

The 27-year-old joined PSG in a whopping £40m deal which Mourinho has been widely praised for overseeing since, but the Brazilian has been a success in France so far.

This is despite the fact new boss Laurent Blanc admitted he thought it would be a much tougher transition for Luiz following the centre-back’s terrible showing at the 2014 World Cup in his home nation.

After battling their way to the semi-finals the Samba Boys were humiliated on home soil as Germany thrashed them 7-1 in a game in which the former star of West London was singled out for particular criticism.

In fact after that display many cynics said that the French champions had only signed Luiz due to his marketability in areas such as South America and Asia – places the Qatari run club had not managed to break commercially as yet.
