The World Cup winner has been struggling to get time on the pitch this season, and had been linked away as the Blues try to free funds to make new signings within UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules. The 24-year-old’s inconsistency was thought to have frustrated the Chelsea hierarchy, and his start against Sporting Lisbon Wednesday night was his first in five weeks.

However, the winger has now told the London Evening Standard that he is happy in London, and does not want to leave the Stamford Bridge outfit. He claims that manager Jose Mourinho also wants him to stay at the club for the foreseeable future.

“I can just laugh all the talk of leaving off. I am not going to change the club in the transfer window,” the German said.

He added, “I am happy where I am, I am happy in London. I love the city, I love the fans. We have a great team and want to win something this season. This is where I belong and where I want to help. I know what the manager wants for me and that he likes me.”
