Blues honing in on a move for Inter forward Mauro Icardi.

Chelsea look close to securing a £20 million move for highly rated young Argentina forward Mauro Icardi from fallen Serie A giants Inter Milan, report the Express, after new Inter manager Roberto Mancini lined up Malmo and Sweden striker Markus Rosenberg as the former Sampdoria star’s replacement.

Icardi has been one of few bright sparks for Inter in a dismal Serie A campaign so far, with the 21 year-old’s movement and finishing ability making him one of the most feared attacking talents in the Italian top flight and attracting the interest of Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur as well as Chelsea.

It is the Blues who seem to be leading the way in the chase for Icardi, however, with the report suggesting that a cut price £20 million deal is close as Inter need to sell to ensure their compliance with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Regulations.

Malmo star Rosenberg would cost less both in terms of a transfer fee and wages, meaning that Inter could wipe out some of their financial issues by allowing Icardi his Premier League move, whilst Chelsea would pick up a talented young striker to add to their impressive arsenal of weaponry.
