Arsenal Set To Give Up On Sami Khedira In Favour Of Ambitious £40m Juventus Deal

Paul Pogba now appears to be number one target for the Gunners.

Arsenal are set to end their lengthy pursuit of Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira, report the Daily Star, with Arsene Wenger set to go after an optimistic £40 million move for powerful young star Paul Pogba from perennial Serie A champions Juventus.

Whilst Pogba is one of the finest young players in world football and almost perfectly suited to the needs of Arsenal in central midfield, there has to be a feeling that tracking the highly rated Juventus man over Khedira could prove to be a suicidally optimistic move, with Khedira likely to be available on a bargain deal due to the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season.

The report suggests that the Gunners are set to make an offer in the region of £40m for Pogba – but such is the level of ability that the former Manchester United youngster has, it is far from certain that an offer of this value would be accepted by the Turin club.

Khedira, meanwhile, looks to be heading for the Bernabeu exit door after failing to break down the Luka Modric and Toni Kroos pivot in Carlo Ancelotti’s central midfield, with the German also having failed to agree a contract extension beyond the summer of 2015.
