The Italian international has been strongly linked with an exit having failed to retain a foothold in the AS Roma starting eleven over the past 18 months.

Last term Destro started just 14 Serie A fixtures though he managed to finish the campaign as the club’s top-scorer with 13 goals and may have hoped for a more prominent role in first team matters this season but it hasn’t panned out the way.

Rudi Garcia may well consider offers for Destro in January and Liverpool may look to take advantage of the fact that AS Roma have failed to secure passage to the Champions League knockout stages by making an offer for the £20m rated forward.

AS Roma may be more open to bids for Destro having missed out on the financial ramifications of making it into the last 16 of the Champions League and perhaps beyond.

Rodgers has seen new signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert struggle for goals since arriving on Merseyside whilst Fabio Borini has barely had a look in and Daniel Sturridge continues to battle with injuries and Liverpool may well need to invest in their attack if they are to secure a coveted top four finish.
