Liverpool have reportedly tabled a bid to sign 19-year-old striker Jaime Baez from Uruguayan club side Juventud this January, according to the Metro.

The in-form teenage talent has impressed with his performances for Juventud so far, drawing comparisons with his fellow countryman and former Liverpool star Luis Suarez.

Suarez left the Reds for a £75m move to Barcelona during the summer transfer window, and there’s no doubt the club have missed his presence upfront.

Baez is said to be a similarly skillful player with great creativity, though his goals record is not currently at a particularly impressive level, with just nine strikes in 49 appearances for his side.

Still, Liverpool could be landing themselves a highly exciting prospect on the cheap if they do bring him to Anfield, with £3.2m possibly being enough to persuade his club to let him go.

Valencia have also shown an interest in Baez, but it may be that the offer to link up with Brendan Rodgers in the Premier League would be more tempting.
