The 29 year old has struggled to retain a foothold in the Blues starting eleven with Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta still Jose Mourinho’s first choice starter.

The Brazilian international has started just two of Chelsea’s 15 Premier League fixtures and as well as having issues on the field of play Luis is also finding it hard to adjust to life in west London.

‘There’s no daylight,’ Luis explained.

‘Here it gets dark at half past three or four. I had never lived that way. You have to change many routines, like my dinner time.’

Whilst Jose Mourinho could perhaps elect to use the £15.8m signing on a more frequent basis it’s unlikely that te ‘Special One’ can do much about issues regarding daylight and what time Filipe eats his dinner….

Either way it seems Luis will struggle to unseat Azpilicueta, with the former Marseille man adjusting brilliantly to life since converting from a right-back to a role on the left-hand side of the defence.
