The Gunners boss is only midway through a three-year deal, but with fan discontent at an all time high his position is under pressure. Back to back 4-1 wins in Europe and the Premier League have eased things somewhat, but there is still fan fury over the nature of the 3-2 defeat against Stoke City last week.

With Arsenal finally having some financial fire-power in the transfer market, the board are reportedly hoping for a stronger showing this season. It is even believed that if the Frenchman fails to win either the Premier League or the Champions League this campaign then he could be on his way out.

Wenger has been at arsenal for 18 years now, and naturally has the respect of everyone involved. It is therefore unlikely that he will actually be sacked, but more likely a discussion will be held with the board about the club moving in a different direction. If he is no longer wanted at the club then the former Monaco man will surely step down.

Fans will be hoping that Saturday’s 4-1 win over Newcastle will be the start of a Premier League revival for the Gunners, and Arsene Wenger will no doubt be hoping the same thing.
