Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen scored the goals, either side of a Wilfried Bony strike.

Here’s how Mauricio Pochettino’s men rated in South Wales:

GK: Hugo Lloris – 7/10

Made an excellent double save to thwart Wilfried Bony, albeit after the Ivorian had been flagged for offside.

RB: Kyle Walker – 5.5/10

Walker made an awful start to the game, giving the ball away within the opening 10 seconds with a silly cross-field pass. He then got booked before the quarter-hour mark for foolishly grabbing the ball with his hand in the aim of getting a free-kick decision. He played on nervously with a yellow card hanging over his head for the full 90, steadily improving as the game went on.

LB: Ben Davies – 6.5/10

Looked sharp against his former club. He was very positive going forward and useful defensively too – making a stunning last-ditch tackle to stop Bony equalising in the first half.

CB: Federico Fazio – 4.5/10

Worryingly slow, both in the feet and in the brain. Looks a liability.

CB: Jan Vertonghen – 6.5/10

Did well against Bony, but picked up a needless yellow card for a clumsy lunge on Wayne Routledge.
