Will Arsenal fans agree with their stars being handed an extended break…

Arsene Wenger has risked the wrath of the Arsenal supporters by allowing his players an extended Christmas break. The Gunners have won five of their last six games, but fans have continued to demand more from their side, and will be frustrated if this knocks them off their stride.

Arsenal fans were demanding Wenger’s resignation after their humiliation at Stoke earlier this month, but the Frenchman has turned things around with big wins over Newcastle and Galatasaray, alleviating at least a little of the pressure.

But the Daily Express has confirmed that the Arsenal players will now receive an early three-day Christmas break, meaning that the club’s stars will only return to training on Wednesday, ahead of a crucial game against Liverpool.

“We will not have Christmas so I’ve given the players some days off,” said Wenger, whose side then host QPR on Boxing Day before heading to West Ham on Dec 28 and Southampton on New Year’s Day.

“It’s important to have a break. When you count the number of games with the Champions League, the players will not be at home over Christmas so to have two or three days at home is important. Most of them will stay in England because their families are here.”
