AC Milan move to quash rumours suggesting they will cut short Fernando Torres’ loan deal and return the Chelsea star to Stamford Bridge…

After a poor start to life in Serie A, there were rumours that Fernando Torres’ loan deal at AC Milan was about to be cut short. The misfiring forward won’t be returning to Chelsea however, with the Italian club confirming that they have no intentions of prematurely ending the loan, according to the Metro.

The 30-year-old endured a torrid time at Stamford Bridge, and never even came close to living up to the£50m price tag following his switch from Liverpool.

He hasn’t been faring much better in Serie A however, with the Spaniard scoring just once since joining AC Milan on a two-year loan deal.

His lack of form led to rumours that he would be shipped back to Chelsea at the nearest opportunity, but it seems now that the Rossoneri are planning to keep faith with the ex-Anfield hero.

“I don’t think he [Torres] will leave even if the market is unpredictable,” said AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.

“Torres has been unlucky. He has struggled with injuries and is coming from a different league. We need to be patient.

“He is important and will probably return [to top form].”

Milan are currently 12 points off top spot in Serie A, and are struggling down in sixth place. Scoring goals has not been their problem this season however, with their goals conceded causing them the most issues.
