Pressure is growing on Rodgers and Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Man United has left the Northern Irishman’s future in charge of the Merseyside outfit hanging by a thread.

Though the likes of Andre Villas-Boas, Rafa Benitez and even the possibility of a Jamie Carragher/Steven Gerrard managerial pairing have been suggested as options Liverpool’s American owners are keen on Klopp above all other options.

Though Klopp’s side find themselves way down near the foot of the Bundesliga table this term it’s worth remembering that the 47 year old has previously guided the Westfalenstadion side to back to back domestic titles and led Dortmund to a Champions League final.

Borussia Dortmund were always going to struggle this term having seen top-scorer Robert Lewandowski run down his contract and join arch rivals Bayern Munich on a free transfer over the summer.

Liverpool face Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals this week and a defeat to the in-form Championship side could well leave Rodgers in real trouble.
