The 22 year old Danish international was arguably the only one of Andre Villas-Boas’s lengthy list of additions in the summer of 2013 who has delivered the goods and continues to do so now under umpteenth new White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino.

PSG, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are all also keen on the former Ajax man and Liverpool had attempted to lure Eriksen to Anfield prior to his move to north London, so perhaps their re-ignited interest isn’t all that surprising.

Tottenham paid just £11m for Eriksen in August 2013 but would now demand £32m for his services, though one imagines Pochettino would even resist offers of that magnitude.

Eriksen has racked up 16 goals and 11 assists in 55 appearances for Tottenham but should Pochettino fail to secure a Champions League berth then perhaps the cultured attacking midfielder will be considering his options next summer?

Any successful bid from Liverpool would depend greatly on whether Rodgers had himself nabbed a top four finish, or perhaps secured Champions League qualification via a Europa League triumph, and given the inconsistent form shown by the likes of Coutinho, Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana one can well see why Eriksen would appeal to the Northern Irishman.
