Potters enquire about PSV Eindhoven starlet Zakaria Bakkali.

Stoke City have clearly got the taste for pulling off eye-catching signings from continental Europe after their summer swoop for Bojan Krkic from Barcelona, with the Mail reporting that the Potters have enquired as to the availability of teenager PSV Eindhoven winger Zakaria Bakkali who has also been watched by Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Bakkali is rated as one of the most exciting young footballers in European football and burst onto the scene with PSV Eindhoven last season – but he has rarely been involved this year and even demoted to the club’s reserve side as they take a hard line on his refusal to enter into discussions over a new contract.

The 18 year-old, who already has senior caps for Belgium, is out of contract at the end of the season and looks almost certain to move on from the Eredivisie leaders, but Stoke City would represent a shock destination for a player who has been tracked by some of the leading lights in European football.

Manchester United have been heavily linked, potentially due to manager Louis van Gaal’s extensive knowledge of Dutch football, whilst Arsenal and Liverpool are also mentioned as clubs who have watched Bakkali by the Mail report.
