Spurs considering offering Mousa Dembele as bait to get Villa star Fabian Delph.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to offload Belgian international midfielder Mousa Dembele in the January transfer window following his indifference form under Mauricio Pochettino, with the Mirror reporting that Spurs are considering offering the former Fulham man as bait in a deal to bring England international midfielder Fabian Delph to White Hart Lane from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Dembele has been involved on a regularly consistent basis for Tottenham, particularly in the club’s six Europa League group stage fixtures, but he has rarely stood out and there seems to be a feeling around White Hart Lane that the club need midfielders capable of having more impact on games if they are to move forwards.

This could be where Delph comes in, with the former Leeds United midfielder having enjoyed a fine start to the season before Villa before his absence through injury coincided with Paul Lambert’s side entering a dreadful run that has thrust them into a relegation battle.

He also made his England debut against Switzerland in that time and impressed – and will be looking to make it back into Roy Hodgson’s plans when he returns in 2015, potentially as a Tottenham player if this particular report is to be believed.
