The Adelaide Advertiser claim Liverpool officials visited the Adelaide Oval during the Australian cricket team’s Test match against India last week, with the venue being viewed as a potential option for the pre-season clash.

The South Australian newspaper also claimed the match would be announced when former Reds Robbie Fowler, Didi Hamann and Jason McAteer are in Adelaide during a public speaking tour in January.

It would make for a bumper July for Australian football, with Real Madrid, Manchester City and Roma already confirmed to play in the International Champions Cup at the MCG.

Liverpool’s visit would be its second to Australia in two years, after the Reds played in front of a sold-out MCG against Melbourne Victory in 2013.
