The Italian is currently at Serie A giants Juventus, but his contract finishes in the summer and he is allowed to talk to other clubs in January. Arsenal and Fiorentina have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old in recent weeks, resulting in comments from Giovinco’s representative.
His agent Andrea D’Amico has admitted that it is unlikely that any transfer will happen next month, but a move could happen in the summer when he is allowed to leave for free.
“Giovinco to Arsenal? At the moment only Juventus can negotiate with him; later on however things can change since he has an expiring contract,” D’Amico told Sky Italia. “I haven’t met many times with Juventus – on our end we have always been open to it.
“Fiorentina? We know they like the player, but we’ll need to evaluate the project,” he added.
The Gunners could certainly use some extra reinforcements for their squad, with poor form and injuries culminating in a shaky start to the season. Arsene Wenger’s men are currently outside the top four but impressive victories in their last two matches suggest they have what it takes to return to the Champions League qualification places.
