Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Nacho Monreal could all be fit for Arsenal’s crucial visit to Liverpool this Sunday, according to Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners boss was giving an injury update to Arsenal.com on the state of the squad ahead of their trip to Anfield.

It’s a pivotal match on Merseyside for both sides, with the North Londoners just five points clear of the Reds and a victory for either side would do wonders for their top four aspirations.

It was also revealed that goalkeeper David Ospina had re-joined first team training after a knee issue which has kept him out since mid-October and also that Tomas Rosicky was just a week away from return.

However, there was no improvements to long-term absentees Jack Wilshere and Mesut Özil, who remain on schedule for their respective return dates.

Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta are also said to be progressing well.

“There’s a slight chance of Monreal being available and a very slight chance for Walcott. We hope that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit. We’ll see that on Saturday,” said Wenger.

“[Walcott] is back in training today [Thursday]. But only today. I might take him, I don’t know yet until he’s back to full training. Let’s see.

“That’s what we’ll see on Saturday after a test. He’s [Oxlade-Chamberlain] not in training at the moment.”

The Gunners will be hoping for a quick return to action for Monreal and Oxlade-Chamberlain as the North London side are well stocked in attack, but drastically short in midfield and defence.
