Bayer Leverkusen are in the hunt for Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, according to respected Spanish journalist Kike Marin.

The German club are said to be chasing the Gunners’ young right back, who has only just broken into the first team, but the El Confidencial reporter says Arsene Wenger is adamant the Spaniard will not leave.

It would certainly be a ridiculous move from Wenger given his complete lack of defensive cover at the moment due to continual injuries and short numbers in reserve.

Bellerin only made his debut this season in the 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League following a long-term injury to summer signing Mathieu Debuchy.

After a tough start where he showed every bit of his naïvety, the Spanish youngster returned to the bench and Calum Chambers deputised at right back.

However, following a series of suspensions and injuries Bellerin has returned to the starting XI for their last three matches and has started to impress.

The 19-year-old capped off his return with a standout performance in the 4-1 Premier League victory over Newcastle United, where he also provided an assist for Olivier Giroud.

There’s certainly potential and Bellerin could turn into a formidable full back option, which perhaps explains why Wenger’s absolute refusal to listen to offers.
